What is WATCH D.O.G.S.?

WATCH D.O.G.S. is one of the nation’s largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement, organizations in the country. Since the program’s creation in 1998, more than 6,450 schools across the country have launched a WATCH D.O.G.S. program of their own. Each school year hundreds of thousands of fathers and father-figures make a positive impact on millions of children by volunteering millions of hours in their local schools through this amazing one-of-a-kind program. Who are WATCH D.O.G.S.? Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other administrator.

What do I need to do to participate as a volunteer in our district?

1.   Complete and submit Clearances and Paperwork:

Visit the district’s Volunteer/Clearance page to learn about clearances/paperwork that needs to be completed and submitted to our office:

• • Act 34 PA Criminal
  • Act 151 PA Child Abuse
  • Act 114 FBI Criminal (Fingerprint) or Volunteer Affidavit 
  • Wilson SD School Volunteer Disclosure Statement – pol 16.Attach2.pdf

  • FBI Criminal Background Check:  Click here to start the process for the FBI Criminal Background Check (Fingerprinting) if you are not eligible to sign the Volunteer affidavit.

      • NOTE:  There is a cost of about $25 for the FBI Criminal Background check.  This is the only clearance with a fee.

2.  Submit your request:

Complete and submit the Watch D.O.G.S. Duty Request (24-25) – Cornwall Terrace Elementary Google form to schedule a date – – – Kindly give us a 2 week advance notice to make arrangements. This form will also help you know if you have everything you need to volunteer.

• • Note:  In the form, you will see we have a limited number of FREE Watch D.O.G.S. shirts.  You may have one of those available shirts or order your own swag at the official Watch D.O.G.S. website:  https://store.dadsofgreatstudents.com/shop

3.  Send an email

Email Mrs. VanOstenbridge at vanpam@wilsonsd.org to let her know you submitted your request, ask questions, or share any additional information.

Mrs. V welcomes Watch D.O.G.S. to sign up and report for duty between Monday, October 7, 2024 through Friday, May 16, 2025.
