LEVEL III & IV LESSONS
Children are organized into age-appropriate groups according to current abilities. Skills learned in Level I and Level II are reinforced while new skills are developed. Students will again learn at their own pace while in small class settings with low student to teacher ratios. Qualified instructors work to create a positive environment while helping each student achieve success on a regular basis. Students still depending on the use of a flotation device will not be permitted to advance into Level III or Level IV.
LEVEL III
GOAL OF LEVEL III
Level III will develop skills to better your child’s freestyle & backstroke. This level will introduce to rhythmic breathing
SKILLS
- Alligator (streamline) with 3-5 freestyle strokes no breathing
- 5-12.5 yards of freestyle (no breathing)
- Introduction to rhythmic breathing (on land, on chair, with kickboard)
- Kickboard breathing drill (5-7 perfect rhythmic breaths)
- Blast off with 12.5 yards of backstroke
- Introduction to treading water in deep & shallow
- Introduction to dives
LEVEL IV
GOAL OF LEVEL IV
Level IV will begin to perfect rhythmic freestyle breathing and work to build your child’s endurance. The instructor will look to introduce breaststroke kick
SKILLS
- 25 yds of freestyle kick with board
- 25 yds of backstroke kick with board
- Rhythmic breathing refresher
- 12.5-25 yds. kickboard breathing drill
- 10-12 strokes of freestyle (with rhythmic breathing)
- 25 yds of backstroke
- Diving progression (sitting, kneeling, standing)
- Dive In- Streamline (“alligator”)- freestyle swim (Swim can be with or without breathing)
- Tread water for 1-2 minutes
- Introduction to breaststroke kick (on back)
All Lessons will be offered at the Roy G. Snyder Natatorium.
