LEVEL I & II SWIM LESSONS
Children are acclimated to the water and introduced to the basic foundation of swimming skills while emphasizing water safety. Students develop their age-appropriate skills at their own pace while learning in small class settings with low student-to-teacher ratios. Qualified instructors work to create a positive environment while helping each student achieve success on a regular basis. Students will complete portions of Levels I & II with flotation assistance.
GOAL OF LEVEL I
Level I is designed to introduce your child to the water- teach them skills to build their confidence to swim unassisted.
LEVEL I SKILLS:
- Introduction to the Water
- Entering and Exiting the Water Safely ( steps, side)
- Blowing Bubbles (surface and underwater)
- Flutter Kicking (wall and 15 ft. distance)
- Front and Back Floating assisted
- Back push from side of the pool (assisted)
- Roll from front to back to Front (assisted)
- Bobbing and front glide “alligator” skills (assisted)
- Introduction to Freestyle arms
- Safety Around the Pool
- Calling for Help
GOAL OF LEVEL II
Level II will lay the foundation of swimming fundamentals- streamline, freestyle, arms and kick are all main components of this level
LEVEL II SKILLS:
- 3-5 full-body bobs
- Kicking on kickboard properly
- face in front float (unassisted)
- reach & retrieve objects from the bottom of the pool deck
- back float (unassisted or close to)
- blast off-with backstroke arms
- alligator with & without kick
- 5-8 freestyle arms (no breathing)
- Introduction to freestyle breathing
- Safety Around the Pool
- Calling for Help
All Lessons will be offered at the Roy G. Snyder Natatorium.
