AQUA AEROBIC CLASSES ARE HELD IN THE SPRING… PLEASE CHECK BACK IN FEBRUARY FOR THE AQUA AEROBIC SCHEDULE
WEDNESDAYS BEGINNING MARCH 27, 2024
7:45-8:30 pm
Wilson offers aqua aerobics classes in the spring and summer sessions at the Roy G. Snyder Natatorium. The season determines which nights during the week the classes are held but we do our best to keep class schedules consistent throughout the year.
Classes run approximately one hour in length and are taught by one of the area’s top aqua-aerobic instructors. The combination of cardiovascular and toning exercises, with the addition of the underwater resistance created through movements, will give the participants a full-body workout.
There is no registration for this class, however, participants need to purchase a 10-Aquatic Class Punch Card. This card can be purchased directly during class through your instructor or by visiting the Wilson School District Aquatics Office located in the natatorium.
COSTS OF CLASS: Costs below are for a 10-Aquatic Class Punch Card, which allows a person to participate in 10 class sessions.
- $7.00 Per Class/$5.00 Seniors
- 10 Class Punch Card Wilson Resident/Employee: $50
- 10 Class Punch Car Gold Card Holder: $40
Cards may be purchased at the first class you attend. Please see the instructor to purchase a card. There is no expiration date on the card unless you have used all 10 punches.

What is Aqua Aerobics?
Also known as Water Aerobics or AquaFit, an Aqua Aerobics Class is going to drain your energy but still let you feel great after you finish!
Usually performed in chest/shoulder-deep water, every muscle in your body will be utilized through the combination of rhythmic dance and exercise steps. The purpose is to enhance cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance. Because it is performed in water, students deal with additional resistance created through their body movements. It is an exercise for all muscle groups: arms, legs, chest, abdomen, neck, and back.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN AQUA AEROBICS?
Anyone!
Your age, gender, and swimming abilities do not matter! As long as you are interested in Aqua Aerobics, and you feel comfortable in the water, you can get started by attending any of our Aqua Aerobics classes. Our experienced and qualified instructor will work with you to ensure you perform each movement correctly and help you figure out the best pace for your abilities.
Through your own body’s buoyancy and the additional use of water buoys, your joints will receive the support they need to reduce the amount of strain unlike when you exercise on land. This makes Aqua Aerobics ideal for individuals with arthritis, obesity issues, or suffering from neck and back pains. And if you think you won’t get a workout, on average a student will burn 400-500 calories in a 45-minute class due mainly to the increased resistance underwater.
So don’t be shy… come out a try an Aqua Aerobics class today!
