The WSD Aquatic Program offers water polo to youth, middle school, high school, and masters level athletes. Opportunities for each group is determined by the time of the year and pool availability. Most water polo activities will take place during the fall, spring, and summer seasons because the winter season is focused on swimming.
The Wilson High School Water Polo Teams boasts one of the top programs in Pennsylvania. The boys program has won over 14 state championships while the girls have collected 2 state championships of their own. The last state championship came in the 2010-11 season when the Bulldogs defeated Cumberland Valley High School 11-9 to cap off a perfect 28-0 record. The Lady Bulldogs reached the state championship game in 2011-12, where they eventually fell to North Penn High School 7-9 and finished as state runner-ups with a 23-5 record.
One of the main reasons for the success of the high school teams is due to the youth and middle school programs. WSD Aquatic Programs work in conjunction with the Kingfish Water Polo Foundation to offer age group water polo throughout the year. In the fall, middle school athletes have an opportunity to play in the PA Middle School League and practice several times during the week. The spring provides the AWP Main Line League and the summer one of the largest house league programs outside of California. By getting the kids in the water at an earlier age, the athletes have a chance to develop their skills in a fun and educational environment while growing more passionate about their involvement in the aquatics world.
